Since Dec 2005, volunteers from the S&N Trust have spent their free time clearing sections of the canal.  Pictures from the clearance weekends are shown below.

In early 2009 the council purchased the Wharf and have now leased it to the Trust on a "peppercorn rent".  The Trust aims to restore the buildings and rejuvenate a section of the canal from Wappenshall to Lubstree Park (some two miles or so).  If interest in the renovated section is high, this may give sufficient momentum for restoration of the whole canal, all 25 miles of it.
